George and Mary of Hull
On the night of the 25th October, 1859, the sloop George and Mary, of Hull, was driven ashore near Filey, in a heavy gale from the eastward.
On her showing a light as a signal of dis- tress, the Filey life-boat was manned and launched, and proceeding to her, took off' her crew of 3 persons, landing them in safety. The sloop shortly after broke up, and at daylight had entirely disappeared.
